The human brain Vs Technology
    #3130509 - 09/13/04 04:46 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

It is estimated that the human brain contains 100 billion neurons averaging 1000 synapses on each; that is, some 10^14 connections.

Lets say for simplicitys sake that a neuron equeals a transistor. Then if we are to have a computer chip as advnaced as the brain it would have to have like a trillion transistors on die.

Best today is like what? 50-100 million?

we have a long way to go baby! thoughts?

we will better learn the meaning of respect of our peers as machines become our peers, and we begin serve eachother.
A commensual relationship as well as an intellectual one may ensue.
Life conditioned data expressions is an artform of which we are all dealers.
We hardly know what culture we already have.

I read about that too.

In the mean time, it doesn't hurt to start considering that external technology is a refelction of bio technology. meaning, what technology can do, so can our own bodies once DNA is reprogrammed and more of the brain is utilized.

I don't see them as being opposed to each other but rather as parralles of eachother. One internal and one external.

Computers are an attempt at creating or emulating a human mind out of electronic parts. Robots are the same with a body.

I just hope the humans will create right-brained technology that considers the spiritual implications as a given, so we don't end up with terminators.

I think AI is certainly possible and probably a definite, given enough time for technology to advance. It won't be with anything we have now, I think, though it will definitely be modelled after life itself. I think the creation of AI will mark a turning point in the evolution of human thought. "Artificial" is not really the right word, because the Intelligence will be natural. The Universe gets a two-for-one this way: create a sentient species biologically, and it will create another sentient being with its tools.

Once, men turned their thinking over to machines in the hope that this would set them free.
But that only permitted other men with machines to enslave them.
