I bought a copy and I'm on chapter 3. I'm reading it to see what all the fuss about. Lots of you spirituality and philosophy people reccomend it and whatnot. So far I like it but the whole thing about the story is really corny. I think the author should have just written a normal explanatory book about his theories about what the world needs and spirituality and how we are going to become spiritual cause the story about Johnny Wilcox and the secret Peruvian manuscript is MaXx GhAYoR. "Have you heard of the secret manuscript" I acksed hopefully. "Yes I have" the large breasted stranger answered "and I want to explain to you about the fifth insight!." I couldn't believe my luck. xRRoHaxxl33txoRx

It is marginally alright (there is nothing bad or evil in it) as long as you keep in mind that it is fiction...with a point. Much like Castaneda's work. It is SUPREMELY corny.

usually people wait until they are finished with a book before they start attacking and critizing it. Its a good story, and its just that, a story, its not real. It has some good ideas in it, thats all.

Well I'm criticizing it already so deal with it. Now I'm on Chapter 6 which means I'm 2/3 done. I think the story's pretty lame.

If you pay more money for more books you are promised another "insight". So get reading...

I'm with you on this question fo joo.
I finished the book and the story never redeemed itself. Just too corny for my taste. I agree...he should have left the story out and just written a book about what the insights were about.
BTW...congrats on post 666.

Heh, probably why I got the pocket version instead, $3 at the 2nd hand bookstore, it just goes over each of the insights in like 4-5 small pages each. None of that story stuff goin on.

I read this book years ago. I didn't know about its reputation, so I had no expectations. It was an easy read with some interesting ideas (at that time in my life). I think the story was kinda cool too...little preachy at times, but I enjoyed it. Couldn't finish "The Tenth Insight" though; way to preachy. Did you guys know a movie about "The Celestine Prophecy" is being made?
