Very wet straw
    #3128822 - 09/13/04 09:12 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

Hi, my second foray into the world of straw is just starting to pin. It is a nice big lump of straw spawned with WBS/verm cakes.

The humidity was very high in there last night because a very low ambient temperature forced me to put a heat mat underneath it. This morning, I found loads of very small droplets of water all over the straw lump. I am worried that this will hurt my pins or something.

I have opened up the lid to allow some moisture to escape.

Should I:

A) leave it as it is
B) gently pat the surface with tissues
C) put some dry verm on/around it
D) something else?

Fanx!

Leave it as it is unless there is lots of water there. When you are in pinning stage you don't want to rock the boat by putting verm on there or anything.:)

Okay, I left it as it was this morning, tonight the whole thing is literally covered with condensation. By that I mean there really isn't one square millimetre that has no water droplets on it. Will my pins be able to survive this? I heard that this much moisture can cause aborts.

Can anyone give me some guidance?

You definately want to get that water off there, may cause aborts or contamination, b oth are shitty results. I would probably pat it down slightly being careful not to contaminate.
