Are you folks saying that Pan trops can be fruited from cased rye? Does that apply to Pan cyans also? Can someone with experience please give a little detail? How does the dung-less substrate affect crop size, quality, spore production, contam resistence, etc.. paddo.. How are you inocculating the rye? Spores? I sent the print I won in Ralph's contest to a FOAF. He's gonna start a culture on agar, then transfer wedges.

As said, rye is used to spawn dung mixed with verm.! I use an agar wedge I got from Anno, put it on OGG-agar, and now it's ready for use!

Yes that goes very well.....We used colonised rye to inoculate a sterilised mixture of dung/grass seed/vermiculite. After 10 days this was filles into trays and cased with peat/vermiculite.

Whell Una I see by looking at those pics that it is very hard work but pay's off eventually. My agar colonie is somehow damaged due to high temps. Water is running out of the agar wich gives less fluffie mycelium, looks like spryed with water, before it dries out complete I'd like to put it in a jar of rye. After this spawning dung/grasseed/verm in ?a pc-bag?, and case them with sterile 50/50! I also like 2 add that ecuadors and classics are forming nice mycelium ontop of the 50/50 right now. As multiple spots of mycelium sized 1/2inch how long does it take for pinning with an avarage temp of 20?C. They have been cased with 50/50+ 1,5 weeks now. Have had one week darkness where they penetrated the 50/50, and have seen light since last saturday! Someone knows? So for what type of grasseed am I looking at the gardenshop? Just normal dried cow dung? How much water for the dung/verm in what ratio?

Pan. cyan and trop grow on straight rye grain cased. Fruits are smaller. But with a good pin set, numbers are ridiculous. Over two flushes, 400-600 shrooms. They are munchkins!!! Total yield was 4 grams dried. They contaminated after the second flush. It is very difficult to harvest that many small shrooms.

This tek?? For 1 pint jar! 40 ml rye grass seed 40 ml vermiculite 150 ml dry dung(from a bag from the garden suply) 125 ml water. Put in a jar, close tight, shake well. Take down the lid, cover with aluminium foil, sterilize for 1 hour in a PC, inoculate with an agar wedge. Once colonized, case with a very thin layer of 50/50+ casing. Same temperature as for cubensis

We did it like this: * Presoak the grass seed for one night in water. * Mix 2 parts of dried dung with one part of vermiculite * Add water to the dung/vermic mixture until fully wet but not soggy. * Mix equal parts of soaked grass seed and dung/vermic mxiture. * Sterile the dung/vermic/grass seed mixture for 2 hours in autoclave bags. * Let the bags cool in the laminar flow cabinet. * Inoculate the bags with 300 ml of colonised rye grain spawn. * Seal the bags with an impulse sealer. * Shake the bags every 3-4 days. * After 10 days the mixture is completely colonised and the bags are cut open. * The mixture is filled into 1 liter trays and cased with 1 cm of peat/lime/vermic/ mixture. * The trays are put in darkness to let the mycelium grow through the casing soil (3-4 days) * The trays are put in a clear plastic bin to induce fruiting. They are watered daily. * After 5 days pins formed and these developed into mature mushrooms in 6 days. Beware that pressure cooking the dung mixture will seriuously make your kitchen smell like a farm!!!
