Light question
    #3127943 - 09/13/04 12:00 AM (20 years, 4 months ago)

Is any light needed for incubation or early pinning still in jars or just for fruiting also is there acertain type of light that anyone recomends? would i be able to do this in a drawer if i could run a light in there and fan a few times a day?

There is suggestion that light in the blue spectrum is optimum but its not like weed or anything, you probably will not see any difference in quality of pinning by targeting the specific light. Just give it some light every now and again and you will be fine.

Putting a light in a draw may be a fire hazard, but that really depends on the type of draw and the type of light. Theoretically though your plan is sound.

I think you would need light for early pinning in the jar...I just asked a similar question, I was told it would finish colonizing anyways...but in the invitro tek it says to expose to light during incubation. I don't know if it helps, but I don't think it can hurt.

Exposing to light after they reach around 90% colonized can help advance the pinset, yes. It is probably best not to jerk around with that though on the first grow, stick closely to the tek you're working on and resist trying to make everything better before you even get through plain pf tek one or two times (practice). Later on, you can use the method to perhaps save a day or two of fruiting chamber time.
