If the blob is dead it is not due to an 89F temperature.

Actually, I believe it to be nearer to 106F, but I don't read the FAQ much anymore... too busy growing mushrooms.

as i remember dog's figure is at or near thermal death for myc, and chemist's figure is closer to the thermal death of mushroom spores. im sure it wouldnt be hard to find the info . . .

yeah I've read that the thermal death is also around 116 F. Also there is one right up in the shroomery guide that myc. growth rates dramatically reduce when the temperature excedes 86 F.
But I dont think it dramatically stops after 86, but round 89 could possibly cause it to slow.

Myc 106F. and spores 122F. I've heard people cheating both thermo-death limits so it's just a baseline.

If you want to get optimal growth you may want to reduce that temp. Mycelium generates quite a bit of heat which will create temps above optimal inside the jars.

See this is the thing, when I checked on the jars the temp was 84-F but I checked what the max had reached and it was 89-F since then it has not gone over 85-F so im just a little confused why it got to 89-F
Since then I have been checking everyday to make sure the temp stays steady, and it has. Hopefully the 89-F was not a sign my heater is going to go crazy and overheat in the near future.
