cantam on hydrotron!

I went to check on my cakes today and found contam growing on my Hydrotron. the container was wiped down with alcohol before i set everything up and also i sterilized the Hydrotron at 15 psi for 30 because i had used the hydrotron to grow weed last year. Are my cakes still safe? i took out about 15 hydrotron rocks with mold on them and put some H202 in the water. Should i throw away the cakes and start over?

Shit this scares me because I'm using the same thing.
How sterile is your fruiting chamber and the area around it?

the area is kept pretty clean and i always wear latex gloves and a wear a mask when handling anything. I think because i used the hydrotron to grow weed they have dirt or nutes inside them that allowed contams to grow on them. i just hope all my work wasn't for nothing this is the 2nd attempt at growing and i have yet to produce any shrooms

If you use the rocks for weed god knows what could be in there....prolly dead spider mites. Got my stuff straight from the store and right into the pod, no weed growin with it. My guy however uses it to grow 'dro and it works great. But i wouldn't share them, get a bag for fungus and a bag for the dro.

well i grew hydro with them last year so they sat under water in a solution of nutes for 6 months and i also started my hydro in soil and then transfered, so some dirt could be in them as well. I'm ordering a new bag of hydrotron now but i still need to find out if my cakes are bad. i would think they could protect them selves from contams but i want to make sure it's safe. The cakes are sitting on there own lids and not on the hydrotron itself.

The lids probably helped a lot, they are most likely safe if they were fully colonized.

they were fully colonized except on the very top side where the cake mets the dry verm. In the past week this thin layer has been colonized and i haven't noticed the mold til today. Do you think it can contam my cakes through this thin layer?

throw out all your cakes and bake all your rocks at 450F for a few hours, clean the shit out of your set up, and start over...best not to try to battle the contams ...but clean them completely out!

Im curious why you didn't put the H2O2 in your Pod in the first place. Its a pretty standard thing to do from what i have seen.

well i preasure cooked them at 15 psi. but i don't think it's contams in the rocks i think it's nutes in them that allow contams to grow on them. no matter how much i cook the rocks i don't think it will rid them of nutes. i think it might be best to start fresh. i guess i will throw them out.

Do you rest your cakes on the hydroton? If so some BRF might be on the hydroton.

no they sit on the lids and the contams are concentrated on the other side of the container.
