On average how long does it take for pins to form?
    #312725 - 05/08/01 11:39 PM (15 years, 10 months ago)

A foaf cased some EQ's and SA's from sporechicks on monday, covered w/foil w/holes,then put in sterilite w/ perlite on thursday.Used sea of shrooms tek cased half w/ coir and half w/50-50+. There is a bubbler in the corner and a tray of rye grass beside it for o2.When the foil came off casing was 30-50% colonized. Fanning and misting litely twice a day. A few have thick white hairs a few have thick clumps of solid white 1/4 inch groupings that don't look like the same texture as the hair type stuff. I know that no one can say specifically when things will come together, but we were hoping someone would have a general idea based on the info given. None of this would have happened if it had not been for the Shroomery. Thanks everybody!!!

Anyone know anything about mycelium on a casing that is a solid clump that looks smooth? Its only on the casings done w/50-50+, the coir casings have the typical fuzzy look.

It is solid but it is only 1/4 in. A lot of the casing is uncolonized. Should I still do the "scratching"?

Hmmm, if it looks totally glazed, then you might want to scratch.

Your case seems to substanitate the use of coir over anything else for casing. My monkey loves that stuff...
