almost... it looks as if you may have cobweb mold developing.... it's a light gray color, whispy and thin, the mycelium is much whiter you may want to take a colser look at it

I'll definitely stay tuned...
I think one of my mistakes is that I didn't make the casing layer very even - I read in one of the teks that you shouldn't make it too flat cause myc needs valleys and grooves...but in another tek I read conflicting info (after I had cased)...

I looked more transparent than grey to me, though for a moment I did think "cobweb". I think it's just hyphae. If you let it sit for 48 more hours, it should be almost totally covered by grey fuzz if it's cobweb since it's so much faster. If it just looks the same or spreads slightly or gets more fuzzy (and thus likely whiter) then it's fine.
Don't panic about it yet. But generally, yeah if it's got cobweb (or any other mold) it's best to toss it. Or, bury it in a hole with some straw outside and water it, and come back later to see if anything happened, they will likely fruit eventually outside then and mother nature will likely take care of the invader (so the fruits would be usable, you know for science and stuff).

is that a pic of cobweb?....cause if so, themn I definitely had that exact thing before i crumbled - I thought it looked a little weird so I scraped off as much as possible before I cased it....

Well with that evidence maybe it is. But I'd still give it a day or two to see if it spreads super fast or what. At least you didn't lose it to the green stuff cuz that's what I lost my first casing to.
Possibly take some decent close-ups (don't forget to use "macro" mode if your camera has it) and post in the contams forum and see what the contams experts say about it. They will almost certainly need a better closeup of the worst spot of it to tell you for sure.

I saw the same stuff a couple days after I cased, but it hasn't grown significantly in the last couple days - anyway, I'll do a better pic and post in the contams forum - thanks...

VERY IMPORTANT TO GETTING A NICE EVEN PINSET is an level substrate AND level casing! This means as level as you can get it, this is describing the overall levelness of the casing surface, Now the actual surface structure needs to have texture/structure for an optimum microclimate, Here are some pics showing exactly what an optimum surface structure looks like. Yours looks good (nice and level) hopefully the substrate was layed as evenly!

Nice pins!!!
yeah, my substrate was even, but the casing layer wasn't that even....well, luckily I only prepared 1 for now - the new ones I do soon will be more even....

I would definately not patch at this point. The growth is fairly even, and even on my grow I had some sick ass overlay which wasn't patched at all. It came out great, just took a couple more days.
