green contam....
    #3126869 - 09/12/04 07:19 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

I found this at the top of the PF jar just underneathe the verm when I birthed. I scraped the excess verm off and found this green crap...I threw both cakes out that had it. "When in doubt, throw it out" right?

I think I might have had a contaminated syringe since this was an EQ strain that was contamed, and the GT's that were done at the same time uner the same conditions were fine....

:confused:Can anyone tell me what it is?

its trich... the nasty green mold... you did the right thing
in throwing it out because once the spores are airborne you
increase the risk of contaminating future projects

ya it doesn't really look like a contam.. its on organic rye... maybe when i was boiling or PCing, a few rye pieces got burned or something and never showed up until i shook the jars... crossing my fingers

I think throwing out contam'd jars is a waste...definitely get them away from your other healthy ones but don't just toss em. Try cutting out the moldy parts and/ or dipping them in H202.

I put my moldies in a special container away from my other shrumes, and dub it a 'cancer patient'. Surgery and sterilization is done everyday till all the greenies are gone!

I also bury contam'd stuff in the dirt, can do something that way if you get the mold out. Gonna have a nice huge mycellium patch taking over a planter I have in my back yard.
