Is it right for me to trip

I have read alot of stories of people dosing to find more about themselves and their lives ect. i have tried to have a mindset like this while tripping, but i always find myself awed by then visuals and completely unable to decipher anything except being fucked up. Any tips on making an experience more than just being a comatose, without being able to shape my experience.

my first 2 times tripping i was also too amazed by the visuals and perceptual changes to even concentrate on the mental aspect. however, as i tripped more i learned to not pay attention to the visuals so much and direct my attention inward. sometimes it helps to have someone to talk to about what you're thinking. also, i find that when i read or think about interesting stuff earlier in the day they show up later in the trip and i can really think about them. in other words, if you "pack" your mind before you trip you'll have some interesting things to contemplate.
