cool mist humidifiers

I?m completely mystified. I?ve got a cool mist humidifier hooked up to my growing chamber, and I have it set to go on for a minute every two hours. Great pinning, but then it just seems to stop there and I get some skinny mushrooms and lots of abhorts. A humidity problem? I can?t find clear advice on how to properly set this thing up and when to turn it on and off for productive fruitings. The old fish tank and spray bottle was way more successful. Are there any tricks to this?

Hmm... well I leave my cool mist on 24/7
Are you using cakes or casings?
I'd say give it more than a minute.

McMan ... i'm not disagreeing with you .. but .. i think the skinnyness of the fruits is because of the lack of fresh oxygen in the terrarium(along with high humidity)... peace and good luck

If it is on 24/7 would this help to increase airflow enough to be sufficient? Or should it be cut back for final fruiting?

Absolutely. I don't know the exact reasons but it does make sense, something along the lines of increased air circulation leads to increased evaporation? (Just a guess). But if it's on 24/7 already how would I go about increasing airflow?
So for my friends setup he has a cool-mist into a 20 gal. tank with a small tray of wet perlite for the fruiting chamber. It keeps the humidity at an almost exact 98%. Is this fine for the duration of the fruiting cycle?

It leaks. It is one of those all glass aquarium canopies. It fits snug but has slight leakage around the sides. FWIW there usually isn't much if any condensation (temp is around 70)
For clarification heres what is going on in my friends setup. He has 3 cakes in there now. 1 was put in about 2 or 3 days ago after 100% colonization (4 days after 100%). The other 2 were put in this morning after a refrig. cold shock. None are currently showing pins. Should I now lower the humidity in there to around 88% or wait until pins form?
Also what would be the best way in doing so? He can take the small tray of perlite out that is currently in there but I don't think that would have too much of an effect, any other suggestions?
