I'm afraid to give birth!

I know, I shouldn't be, but all this waiting for colonization and stuff, I really don't want anything to happen now. About a month ago I birthed a cake into a small tuperware container. IT was at 90% humidity, I fanned it, And it got 4 hours of intense light. It went from 70-90 degrees over those four hours. Nothing happened, for 5 days, so I threw it out. (I birthed it because it smelt strange, but not bad) Am I paranoid, Or over-anxious? Reassure me that Birthing is easy with the right conditions. I'm most worried about Light!

I presume you are not going to case. make sure you use moist verm to case the top and bottom of the cake(~50mL/cup). I also give my cakes 12 hours of light/day. Also 5 days and you threw it out? Leave it for 2 weeks man before you do that. the smell could have been something in your tuppeware exposed to a new wet environment. If the smell is putrid or you see a mold on the cake then discard asap.

Afoaf birthed some cakes for the first time a few days ago and the smell was strong but it was that sweet odor of SHROOMS. It is a strong smell but very recognizable if you have eaten many shrooms.
try 12hrs on and 12 off with the light

Im going to case 4 cakes and birth the other 5 cakes

if youre going to case then id advise reading this guide and following it closely, its pretty good. Id also suggest to case as many as you have room to do, but then i like casings. A wider dish or pan is better than a deep pan IMO. Good luck!
