Humidifiers..
    #3123927 - 09/11/04 11:42 PM (13 years, 16 days ago)

I was just wondering where everyone got their humidifiers... I just got back from Wal*mart and found a cool mist for $20 and an ultrasonic for $35... is the ultrasonic really worth the extra $15? I mean, the cool mist only had two settings and the ultrasonic had a sliding bar to control how much you're misting... the cool mist had a 24 hour water capacity, while the ultrasonic was only 20... any thoughts? Are they worth it even though they're from Wally World?

And the ultrasonics are known for the little element breaking when they are used constantly. Cool mist might be a better bet.

And cool mist give more airflow. Use the cool mist and get a ultrasonic on a humidistat if you need more humidity.

Ok, cool. I'm thinking about a Martha setup or maybe something close but smaller... I'll definately upgrade like this if my casings work out better than my cakes did (as soon as my jars are done...). Do you guys use hoses to attach to the chamber? This as been my understanding... Does it need to be run through 2 liter bottles as I've seen in teks? What's the difference?

Yes remove the grate if there is one then hot glue or epoxy a funnel on that then attach a 1-2" dia tube. If your using the low Vics one just plug the swirvy hole and drill 2 holes on either side for 1- 1 1/2" tubes.

Go check out the advanced forum for all Magash's knowledge on Marthas (he came up with it, after all). Or post that particular question over there separately.
