Hay/Straw?

I'm interested in doing a bulk grow with poo/straw, but I don't really know where I can get straw. Hay is pretty common, I see bales for $5 all around here, but I've never seen straw.
So what exactly is the difference? If it were pasteurized correctly wouldn't it not matter? Or is it a question of nutrients or contaminants? Thanks for the help.

So straw can be gotten from Craft stores, and can be used for what? As in, what are its legitimate uses?
I know that's sad, but I've never been into arts or crafts, damnit.
Thanks.

try a small chain lawn and garden store. They usually have straw this time of year.

Thanks.
Legitimate uses? Who cares? Go to Michaels (or another suitable craft store) and ask them where they keep their straw. Maybe call ahead first, but this time of year they should all have it.
I called around and asked and no one cared in the least why I wanted the straw (but hell.. if they said "Why?" just say you're making a scarecrow or something:P).
I've NEVER found it at lawn/garden stores in my area, though... only at the craft stores.

Hmm thanks for that tip, I'll have to check that deal out. Gotta build a scarecrow... (and colonize him of course)

I didn't mean for the store, I meant for the other people I may come in contact with when they see me walking around with a bale of straw...it's slightly uncharacteristic of my character. So I'd rather have a response other than, "Who cares?" But that's just me.
Anyways, thanks for the help. I'll stop by some craft stores later.
