looking for a spray on type thing as im not using glass. i make my own wodden frames and often do not want to add glass. i dotn like the sheen/glare that it causes. was thinking somthing like a clearcoat spray can, but i figured there might be something that the fungi lovers used specifically. anyway i need somthing that will coat over it and the paper, i do not wish to ever recover the spores.

thanks guys.

they sell rolls of laminate sheeting at some places. not sure where though, but it might work. It's just a a big roll of laminate that is sticky like tape. just put your spore print on a piece of paper and cover with the laminate then trim around the edges.

those rolls of laminate can be found in big pharmacies in the school supplies section and office stores.  They are used to cover and protect text books.  But it would look really cheesy on this type of project.

The Beacon Liquid Laminate wouldn't work since you have to spread it on with a paint brush, and that would smear the print.

It seams what you are looking for is some spray laminate or clear coat.  If you don't want it to be shiny or glossy, ask the guy at the paint or hardware store for matte finish.  you should spray the print from at least 12" away from the paper to keep the spores from scattering due to the gas blowing out of the can.

If all else fails, just go into a craft store and tell them exactly what you are trying to do.  Preserve for display the pretty spore prints of Portabella mushrooms, right?

Hope that helps.  When you make a couple of these, post some pics, Id'e be interested in seeing how it turns out.

ahh cool thanks.  i guess i will go tthe the paint store and see what they have.  i have some stuff left over from doing my car interior, but i dont remember seeing any matte finish, at least in that brand.  ill head back and check, and if that doesnt work ill head over to the craft store...with portabella spore print in hand

What if you want to put a spore print between two pieces of glass and use some super glue around edges to seal it. They are neat looking I want to frame my first grow haha and also keep a couple to make some syringes.

Ya hairspray is used quite often to preserve flowers, it may work pretty well actually:shrug:

I use this stuff for charcoal projects but seems like it would work.
