Slow boil for an hr. Mark sure u use a rag on the bottom so u don't burn the jars. Only go half way up on the jars with the water.

You can boil the jars in a coverred pot for two hours or an hour and a half.
The jars should be able to sit upright, not float in water and the water should never get on the top of the jars.
Boiling the jars will be good to sterilize them. The extended period of time you need would make you need to use more water in the jar itself (not much though). Experiment. If they contam, you need to add more time. if they don't contam, you can try subtracting time to make yourself in a good range
Remember to keep a lid on the pot and have some sort of tray on the bottom of the pot so the jars aren't in direct contact with the flame part of the pot.

I don't have a PC either, but I boiled/steamed my jars for about an hour and a half per set, and out of the twelve, zero show any sign of contamination over a week of colonization (which is very nearly complete). I just used a rag on the bottom to keep the jars from drying out, and made sure the lid was sealed tightly on to keep the steam inside at the best pressure I could manage using a pot and lid.

i use a big pot with an aluminium pie pan placed in the bottom, that i manipulated and bent to fit perfect, so my jars have a 1 inch space between their bottoms and the pot bottom .i put about an inch and a half of water in the bottom and boil them with a tight lid for 1.5hours.this has worked everytime with no contams!

I like the fractional sterilization method.
Basically it's just like steaming/boiling, but you do it 3 separate times.
You boil the jars for an hour and let them sit for 24 hours. Then do that again, and then one more time.
The idea is that any contams that resist the original boil will begin to germinate when the jars are left to sit, and they'll be more vulnerable to the second and third boiling.

Sounds like a big waste of time to me. What's the advantage?
