in all reality, sugar in a gas tank causes nasty shit. exactly what i dont know, but my friends car was ruined because somebody poured sugar in the gas tank.
I'm sorry to hear that man...

the suagra carbonizes and carmelises and alla round shits the fuck up on your engine's innards.
if you haven't driven yet or very very little you can still drop the tank and clean it out.
if your engine already smelling like a caramel factory then it is royally fucked and you will either need a new car or a complete engine overhaul... whichever proves to be cheaper.

nice link!
of course, they proved sugar doesn't dissolve in gasoline but there was no conclusive experiment where they actually sugared a tank and ran the car a few hundred miles. where is the conclusive experiment?
a thought:
pepsi would be heavier than gasoline, thereby sitting at the bottom of the tank and staying there. gas is pulled more or less from the bottom of the tank. what's ole snopes have to say about straight pepsi being pulled into and through an engine? even if replacing the injectors is all it took (somehow i think your plugs would short and have to be replaced along with wires), injectors get kinda expensive when you have to replace every one "a few times".
regardless, it seems to me pouring a good gallon or two of plain water in the tank would be quite the headache. also, if you really want to fuxxor an engine just drain the oil empty immediately prior to starting and running. i say immediately because the thing will barely start and run if you wait too long. you want the damage to really set in, right?

There was an episode of Mythbusters a month or so back where I beleive they tried with soda and various other chemicals. I dont recall what the results were, perhaps they can be found on the discovery channel website or I may have that episode on my Tivo so I can go back and see what the deal was.

That particular quote comes from the simpsons and it happened to Bart's teacher. And I think that it would REALLY mess up your engine.

the sugar in the gas tank is a myth. you wouldn't be able to get any sugar into the engine for anything to caramelize. sugar doesn't dissolve in gas. plus there are filters that would clog first.
sugar in the oil - now that will fuck it up very nicely.
