I certainly love my pesto! My grandfather brought me a shitload of fresh basil and I made a TON of pesto to mix with pasta, bread and meat, etc. Right now I'm eating pesto and pasta and I am in HEAVEN!

Who here loves PESTO?? Because I certainly do!

yeah, it rules. i had a friend unload a bunch on me this time last year and we made pesto pizzas and pasta and cereal and pancakes and... :smile:

You should look into some mushroom pesto recipes.

This is when mushrooms are also added to the basil and pine nuts to add a more wholesome texture and flavor.



My favorite regular pesto recipe is throwing it all on some penne pasta and grilled rock shrimp.

Yum! I am going to make some tomorrow, I have a shitload of basil in my garden.

I usually use walnuts, olive oil, lemon, garlic, and sometimes parmesan along with the basil......my mouth is watering now. :smile:

Did you make the pesto with the pine nuts... If I remember you make it with olive oil, some garlic cloves, basil, pine nuts, and parmesion right?

Walnuts pine nuts same difference but I think pine nuts are better :p

yeah pine nuts are better and traditional. And way more expensive! That's why I usually use walnuts. Actually I just finished making pesto and now I am eating it on crusty french baguette and with a nice big salad with tons of cherry tomatoes, clover sprouts and raddicio. :laugh: Yum!

You want a piece of heaven? It's quite simple really.


Take raw chicken breast, cut it up into 1-bite strips and throw in pan with olive oil, chopped garlic, salt and pepper. Add a tad of white wine and let it reduce and simmer.


Cooke untill meat whitens. THrow in your choice of pasta (pre-boiled). I like to use penne or fettuccini. THrow in a handfull or so of parmesian cheese, and beeted egg white. I also like adding slices of portobello mushrooms.


let it cook untill the cheese in the pasta mixture thickens. Plate it, and dump your favorite pesto sauce all over that bad boy.



Best served with a slice of toasted frenchbread, pasted with roasted garlic and olive oil.
