What would cause this? (Pix)
    #3118606 - 09/10/04 03:04 PM (12 years, 5 months ago)

A friend sent me these pictures and he was wondering what was the cause of the short fat mushrooms. There like little stones, they are EQ's in PMP. The temp stay's 73f to 76f. They don't get any bigger then that, this is the 3rd flush and its happened everytime..

Also if you can take prints of those fat fks. Try to clone those. I would be kool to see the whole plate filled with little fatties.

Your humidity might be a little high, or you might need a little more light. The mycelium fuzz on the stems seems to make me think the humidity is a bit high. Otherwise, it's just what they feel like doing.

It looks to me like it has something to do with fresh air exchange. You have a good 2 inch (it lookes like) wall above the level of the casing. But you notice how the ones that are strong enough grow above this wall get streched out and unproportional in a different way? I may be wrong but I suggest:

Either

Cut the wall away. Carefully.

Make sure you fan directly on the casing so the CO2 has a chance to get over the wall.

Or next time make your casing deep enough that it comes much closer to the edge of the container.

2cents

This may or may not solve your problem, but it won't hurt to try.
