Spudz, I have a strong urge to write an equaly lengthy response to your post, but I will not. Simply put, I think I am being a bit misunderstood. To rephrase my last post. Scape, I'm sorry that I disrespected you. I was wrong to be so mean and condecending. But, you gotta respect the kids damnit.

scape said: Im sorry i havent payed attention to grammar. I honestly am a 5th year college student it was around midnight i was going on hour 32 with no sleep. Ill Try to do better, and i thought you guys were cool. Also i never stated anything about growing illict substances. I would like you to use heed when presenting topics like this, some people are tired/lazy or just really shitty with grammar. Im a littel of both im not an english major, im a microbology major. Sorry for the confusion about my education. Like i said ill do better.
We are cool. But also understand we get a whole lot of new members here that are about as intelligent as a rock, or are younger than the stated minimum age (18) or they are trying to do something we can't condone (growing in parent's house without permission, etc). So when there's a post from someone relatively new and it 'looks' or 'seems' like it's going to be another one of those types, we panic a little. Some of us more than others. And mostly because the bulk of said oddballs are just here to leech the info on how to grow psychoactives and then that's it, not to be part of the community. Sounds like you may be more interested than in just that, so welcome aboard and please remember to not give up on us as easily as we may give up on newcomers.
But keep in mind most questions we get from new members (like, "where can I get vermiculite" - WTF it's in the FAQ and in about 1/10 if the posts in this forum, use search like the nice sticky topic says to) sort of lower our expectations of newbies. Your questions are actually quite good, most also don't bother giving details like you added in, and we have to try and fish for info to be able to help (which is similarly annoying).
And thanks for adding a bit of proof to my rants, in that you're a microbiology major ('closet mycowizard') and could be quite an asset to us here in the future after we've helped you out and you've developed a bit on your own.
And thank you FF for apologizing (though, had you just held off on the bullshit... that wouldn't have been necessary either - also reinforcing my point).
And I feel horrible for blasting out that most recent huge insane load of long crap, but since I worked on it for a hour or two I figured it would be lame to just delete it. And maybe it will help some of us (not just FF - don't go thinking I mean it like that) remember why we're here and that not every new member is a 16 year old asshead that can't read directions or use a search function.
Anyway, welcome again and sorry for the turbulence on your landing approach.

We're all here for a mutual reason. We all love mushrooms. We like to try to grow them or are trying to learn how to. I say we put all our petty BS differences aside while we're here.
Go down town and pick a fight with some guy in a bar. We're here to learn and enjoy the company of others who are equally or better educated in the ways of the myco world.
Anyway, I'd try casing that cake that is pinning in the jar. Just don't put it in your same fruiting chamber. Just throw down some perilite in another closed container and try fruiting that way incase of contams.
Cheers and GL, - Silven

Thank you, ten times. Probably we were missing something which made us a bit more defensive of things. Reading your posts again, perhaps there was alot of missed sarcasm that I didn't "hear" before I flew off the deep end of reasoning and logic ranting. But still please at least try to second guess your posts and add a few qualifiers in to make it more obvious what your intended context really is. Or toss in some smileys and stuff. Or else we may all go...

Amen brother. I ought to have been so concise with my explanation since that was really all I wanted to say.

Yes this is a good idea for being able to salvage it. Maybe even go as far as carefully removing the uncolonized outer sections but that may not be needed if you isolate it from other cakes (since it will have a higher chance of contaminating, with the open substrate, and you don't want that to spread amongst any other 'good' cakes or casings in your main chamber). But simultaneously you may want to make a new jar or two (if you still have some spores or culture) or pull some clean mycelium from this half healthy cake and make some cultures (karo/honey/malt tek, or other liquid culture tek) to be able to make more 'proper' jars.

Well guys, im truely impressed in your ablilty to attempt to overcome our previous problem. I do accept that i was not really doing a good job at clearly explaining my ideas. Fucknuckle is a cool guy, usally helps out when ever i have a problem or an ideal. I have enjoyed all of your inputs espically fastfred,Magash,Fucknuckle and spudz. I wish i had not allowed their to be think kind of lack in my crediability but i understand what i have done wrong and i will pay special attention to not continue an open "converstation" thru the message board. No im not a slow typer, i actually type 86WPM. I am very educated and i know that i havent entriely showed that in my posts. Again im sorry for the confusion and created this huge uproar. If you had read post 1-5 or whatever it was you would of realized that i was refering to the "over heating of my incubator" as a heatwave. It seemed to accell a couple of my cakes but also seemed to kill 2 others. That was the point i tryed to make. One of those 2 cakes that seemed dead had a baterial infection got very wet and discusting so i threw it. This makes this batch lost 5 to contams, one to green one to cobweb, and the final 3 were to a reason unknown they just stoped growing and smelled unhealthy. So from 9 to 4 cakes in just over a month. I know its my own fault no PC. I know alot espically becuase of my feild of study that sterility is somthing you can never be to careful with. Again i cannot express enough how sorry i am for creating such confusion. please understand and accept me as not just another n00b. thanks,
Scape

Spudz, as nice and diplomatic as you are, you're kinda longwinded. I'm not trying to insult you, but that was alot of reading... especially for getting off topic... where did the topic go?

Yes absolutely, I said that of myself in the post(s) after that. FF just got me going, which led to the rantathon. Also yes it was lame to hijack. But it was also lame to assume poor scape was a silly kiddie and FF sort of kept pushing it so I felt it was good of me to stand up for him in increasingly verbose ways.
I also did try to preface the longwinded stuff with a clue as to that it was going to be off-topic and mostly directed at FF, so you coulda just skipped over the drama.
