Use of agar for mushrooms

-- Can someone please explain the use of agar when growing mushrooms?

You use agar to grow mycelium and spores. for whatever reason. You use it to isolate strains. You can take a chunk of infected cake and isolate the mycelium from the contam too.

If you have syringes, you shouldn't need the equipment or materials, but keep it handy in case you someday get a spore prints later on.

The most important use IMO is to clone mushrooms so that you can move to using monoculture. You could just throw the tissue into some liquid media, but then you would have no idea if it's contaminated. With agar you first isolate clean tissue and then you know it's not contamed.
