My squirrel has a PF jar that was 90% colonized leaving the space that takes up the circle on the bottom bare- except it had a dull low fuzz on it evenly. At first I thought maybe it was just mycelium coming from inside the cake but it wasn't bright white and that spot stayed for a long while like that. In the past couple days the jar was turned upside down and left resulting in rhizomorphic growth of mycylium into that area. Now it looks like a tidal wave going into that area from all around. So my Q is ... if that was a contam the myc obviously is fighting it off successfully ... do I need to worry about that possible contam after it has disappeared?? Thanks for any opinions.
Pics would help ... Anyway, first make sure the cake gets all colonized. Then after birthing, try finding any strange or sour smell. If you notice any odor, toss it. If you don't, place it inside the terrarium but toss it if you spot any contamination growing or if it doesn't fruit within a reasonable amount of time.
