Concerning When to Harvest
    #3113939 - 09/09/04 03:54 PM (12 years, 9 months ago)

The PF Tek says that the time to harvest a mushroom is as soon as the head flares. So that is what I have been doing. I read some posts from some folks that they let their shrooms get real big, but that they weren't very powerful at all. So I have been doing what I have been told and picking them as soon as the head flares. Is this about right? Or should I wait a little longer perhaps?

Shoney

Everything I say on this board is a lie.

Eat more string cheese. It's good for you.

Don't wait longer, pick when veil breaks.

Active ingredients for a fun time are not added once the veil has torn, hence if you want to get the most out of the nutritious value of your substrate, you pick them around then to make sure that you are not wasting nutrients on getting large mushrooms.

Sometimes if you want to sporeprint the mushroom you will let it mature though, so that the cap has fully opened out.
