cat had an old print which she made two syringes outof ,the bag containing the print had iso alc all over it in the glovebox, water was injected through ziploc opening sloshed sround and sucked into 2 syringes, 3-5 mins later cat knocked a test jar to check for contams or if the iso did get into the water and killed the spores, the test jar is growing well but what i was wondering is could spores survive in water with an isopropyl alc content for more then a few seconds? what i basicly want to know is if the test jar is growing does that mean that the syringe would still be viable, or could the alc take a while to kill most spores (the jar was knoked about a week ago and syringes have been refridgerated scince.

Alcohol take 20 minutes(at most 30) to kill spores or bacteria, etc. Don't worry. It takes higher concentration to kill your spores.

I am a novice on this topic, but I have heard even small amounts of RA can lead to mutation. Better mutated than dead tough. What dude would do with that syringe is innoc some honey water. That is a low risk way to see if those spores are still viable.
Worst case you lose your syringe and a jar of honey water - best case you get 10x ++ the amount of innoculant you have now.

Yes I would imagine it would not take a high content alcohol to destroy spores.
I once had a very big problem with jars that had residual bleach soaked into their walls (even after 20 washes). Many jars would not germinate, or if they did it would take like a month.
I do not think it would take much.

Really? Glass can retain bleach? That is crazy. Did you just have to throw away those jars?

Yep. I never used them again.
Both plastic and glass, completely resistant to any colonization.
It was a massive source of mystery for me for a long time. I would innoculate and maybe get a couple of jars out of 10/20 germinate one spot.
Changed the jars, suddenly things are fine.

That is crazy. Really. How did you ever determine it was bleach. I would have gone nutty trying to find out what was killing my germination.

anybody else,im lookin for an anwser frim someone that would know the anwser,my jars have been pc'd over a week ago ,im risking bacteria if i let them sit much longer
and i would just like to ad that i have had nearly 100% success rate when innoculatin jars without the use of any bleach , or any "lysol" and my house has had piles of dishes with half eaten rancid moldy food.
