Grey Speckle Mold on Grain, musty smell

I have been an avid student for years now and have yet to run into the mold that has recently shown its face. The mycelium is still growing strong but the grain itself has a spotted white to greyish mold of some sort around each particular grain. It seems to feed on its own particular kernal, and not to spread or share. The smell is musty like the white mold you would find in your damp cabinets...I think I have a clue to what it may be...but would love the thoughts of you here at the shroomery. The mycelium is growing strong over the speckles and seems to not to be harmed.
I want to see if the mycelium can still be fruited and also to have some insight on the particular cause and kind of the mold at hand. I'm pretty sure the musty cabinets in my kitchen have caused the intake into the jars after sterilization. I plan to paint them and irradicate the problem. I am disappointed though in the outcome, but particularly amused on the strength of the mycelium to grow over the mold.....is it fruitable??? I won't introduce the jars to my grow room through a spawn...could be disasterous, right!
Thank you fellow mycologists.

It might fruit, but as the mold is unidentified it wouldn't be a good idea to ingest anything that comes out of it.
On mold-proofing your cabinets, here's a place to buy a paint additive that prevents mold from growing back through the paint.

Assuming it's only one contaminant, it sounds like Streptomyces sp. The musty basement smell is *almost* a definitive ID. Relatively slow growth [compared to other 'molds']. Streptomyces is a little wierd. . .they're technically bacteria, but form these aerial projections as they mature, like a mold. Those projections produce spores. Much more fungus-looking than bacterial. That also means it can spread like a mold, and should be treated as one. No mercy
