What is common sense?

What is, in your opinion, the definition of common sense? In another forum i had a debate where common sense was described as subjective. What i want to know is how subjective is it? I personally agree with this to a point. I believe basic common sense is quite definite ie: don'y put your hand in the fanbelt, chainsaw, oven top...and don't drink gasoline. What do you think common sense is?

I work in a mental hospital (no, seriously), I see many different versions of 'common sense.' Perception is a distance in a closed in space, and that's all common sense is. 500 years ago it was common sense that the sun revolved around the Earth. That's what you see, isn't it? Human reason is inherently flawed and you can't escape personal bias, especially in something as subjective as politics. To quote Simon and Garfunkel: 'All lies and jests, still a man hears what he wants to hear and disregards the rest.'

not buying into emotions, thinking with your brain instead of your heart, logically analyze everything, taking in other opinions compare them to your own and see what works.
