Should there be a mushroom activism forum?
    #3112051 - 09/09/04 04:05 AM (13 years, 2 months ago)

I was a bit dissappointed when I realized that this forum doesn't deal with mushroom activism very much.

Do you guys think that a new forum just for mushroom politics/activism should be created?

Please also post why or why not.

Mushroom activism is a non-factor, thats why we dont discuss it.

Its hard enough making marijuana activism a public issue.

I am with Die Commie. Marijuana will be the first one to break through. It is our "gateway drug" on the path to legalization.

A new book is out now talking about how Bush did drugs. John Kerry, Bill Clinton, and Al Gore all admitted drug use, though Clinton claimed he danced with Mary Jane but never kissed her. She is apparently one of the few women he played coy with.

The first major push needs to be pot. I am interested in more articles from the UK though, and I would like to see more from those posters in this forum. They have had legal sales of fresh mushrooms for a little while now, and shockingly society has not fallen into disrepair.

Mushroom possession is a felony in my state. That is enough to keep freedom loving peaceful people away from marching for the cause. Too much to lose, to little to gain.

Well, the testing hasn't begun yet. Still dancing through all the hoops and minefields required to get all the various permits for the study.

Besides, the purpose of the upcoming Harvard medical school study has nothing to do with legalization. That will be left to activists who can use the study to dispute the legitimacy of classifying psilocybin and LSD as Schedule 1 restricted substances, i.e. substances with no currently known medical use.

thanks for the correction, a group os psychologist are also trying the same with MDMA, for many years it was said to have been one of the best drugs ever created to help patients to breag through many barriers and 'open up' on the couch

I for one will attest the the viability of both substances in the treatment of cluster headaches

Testing amongst users and sufferers has been going on for quite some time though. I don't think it would make much difference though. The anti-drug zealots don't care that they are wrong. Doesn't matter what evidence they have, or how clearly they are disproved. The movement has to come from the people.

I think mushroom activism could succeed though. People are interested in trying shrooms and if activists could dispel some myths a lot more people might try them. I think very few people who have tried mushies are for keeping them illegal. That's why I think greater awareness could start a landslide of positive support from the people. Fact is that a decent ammount of people don't like pot even after they've tried it. And there are some negative aspects to pot that don't exist with mushrooms.

Is that a quote from somewhere or did "JesusChrist" make it up himself?

I read a lot, and sometimes my ideas come from places that I don't realize. As far as I know that is my quote.

I think activism is a very important issue regardless of the chances behind it. If not for pure legalization, then at least for testing.

A quick read of Strassman's "DMT the Spirit Molecule" shows all the bullshit licensed doctors and scientists have to go through just to test for possible positive side effects for medical usage (mainly in psychotherapy) or even the negative side effects to study the damage drugs does to an individual.

To me the draw laws surrounding psychedelics as a whole have become so tight, we're restricting even the most educated, licensed, and supposedly responsibile individuals going through the proper channels to learn about these things in order to benefit humanity. And that to me is rather pathetic.
