Radiohead on my first trip?

I have never tripped on shrooms before but am eagerly awaiting my first time. Unfortunately having trouble scoring some in my area though (LA, argh.. thought it would be easy). Anyway I've been told that music is an important part of the experience and that I should put on something that I like. Well my favorite band is Radiohead, but I'm worried that their music might be too depressing for the trip? I love their stuff but I wonder if it might bring me down or have a negative effect because their music isn't exactly sunshine and rainbows? Anyone have any comments on this? Should I listen to something more upbeat? It sounds great on weed.

Go ahead and play it but be sure to mix your music up a bit
The best music for tripping is Electronica. It almost seems like it was made specifically for tripping. It's also best to listen to an album you've never heard. If you're just a beginner to Electronica, try Tranceport by Paul Oakenfold, or In Search of Sunrise vol. 3 by DJ tiesto. Its some good upbeat psychedelia.

expectations are completely blown by trips. you might even find radiohead.. uplifting! there are some slightly depressing songs that i've loved on shrooms. jst try anything but only so long as your still in control of your body and are able to change it or turn it off i found that one out of the hard way

Depends what mood you're in at the time. Have a choice of fave stuff handy, in case it's not the right thing for the right moment. Dub reggae is good and safe. Having said that, I bet The Bends would sound fantastic. I'm off to play it right now. Happy trails!

As a Radiohead Expert. I highly recommend Kid A to be listened to from beginning to end since it is somewhat of a concept album and is often ambient enough to let you get your head straight. Definitely good tripping music.

all of these questions over music really jst boil down to personal experimentation... what one person loves another will hate. jst try it out and then turn it off if it makes you feel bad :P

The last song on the Bends blows my mind even when I am straight, and man if you can you should watch the video. The video is in black and white and there are people moving in slow motion while other people walk around next to them. There is this one guy who jumps in slow motion while the other guy moves a stick back and forth underneath him in normal speed. Blows my mind, man. Blows my mind.

Plenty parts of OK Computer are uplifting. I need to play that album next time I mush, especially those first 5 songs. Let Down while peaking...that'll be something. Kid A and Amnesiac would be good too. My experiences with mush and music have been kind of weird though. It's best to have it in the background and not really concentrate on it. When I concentrate on it, it just sounds like I'm listening to the album sober, nothing that different about it. If I let my mind wander, the music begins to surprise me and influence the trip. I think you would like Loveless by My Bloody Valentine. I listened to that while staring out a window at the last remaining bits of a sunset (while tripping). The feeling was indescribable. It pushed me to the darkest depths of ecstasy, if that makes any sense.

I actually went to a radiohead concert on an 1/8 which was last summer near Cleveland. I was brought by some friends who at the time told me I would fall in love with the band. Not really listening to too much of their stuff before I went. Well let's just say I was COMPLETELY BLOWN AWAY. Just try to look at the music in a positive light and You'll be fine. If any of you have the chance at seeing them live, do it. Amazing lightshow! Amazing Band! Amazing Experience! At the end of the concert there was a word squiggling back and forth on the screen above the stage. The word was "FOREVER"..... One of the best feelings ever was looking at my friends all with big smiles upon there faces. We were all joined together as ONE. I had tears of joy stream down my face. ONE LOVE

That is awesome. I have some of their concert videos on my computer but haven't been able to see them live yet. But yes they are definitely one of the best live bands out there. They sound at least as good live as they do on their CDs. Radiohead fans should pick up a DVD called "Meeting People is Easy."

I absolutly LOVE radiohead. If you get the chance man, buy this dvd called "Stargazer: Views of space by Hubbletelescope" and play Hail To The Theif along with it. I did this once and it was amazing. Sit in a dark room with just the tv on (turn the sound off because they play this really cheese-ass classical music, I mean its horrible and Im a major fan of classical music) and Hail To The Theif along side it. It should blow your mind, it did mine! And if you have ever read 1984 by Geroge Orwell, you'll find Hail To The Theif lines up with the book really well!

Radiohead is great tripping or straight. When OK Computer came out it blew my effing mind, and still does. They have brought an awareness to me of a new psychedelic age.
And someone above brought up the DVD "Meeting People Is Easy" BRAVO!!! That is a great DVD. Any fans should get it pronto! Great to trip to also!

All the links I found to the"Street Spirit" (The last song on "The Bends") video, led me to a bunch of advertisements played over and over - it never showed the video. Anyone have a nice link to it? Thanks.

Radiohead is one of the most inventive and talented groups, and without being fantastic on their instruments. Radio head is key in any well informed person/musicians music collection. Electronica??, Shit,...... youve got to be kidding.

But what do I know, I listen to free jazz and shit when Im tripping. If you like radiohead try Beck. I think he is one of the best "solo" artists Ive ever heard. Different band every time. Same fucked up quality. You dont have to ride on the same bass-line if you want to keep in harmony.

<3 Radiohead.
I have this video of them playing live on SNL, they're playing National Anthem (I think that's the name.. can't think) and... wow. Johnny plays this crazy-ass instrument.. I don't have the slightest clue what it is. Like a piano/slide guitar. That man is like a mad scientist with his instruments.

I listened to The Bends on my first trip. Me and my brother just kept laughing and jokingly saying "Yeah! Let's get depressed!" at the beginning of each song, and yet, we were doing the complete opposite and having a great time.

On my last trip, as I was coming down I put on Kid A and skipped stones in the river. What I great experience. I heard those first four notes of "everthing in its right place," and ALL was good.

theremins are awesome. I know a guy who plays one. You can also hear one on led zeppelin "whole lotta love" and pretty much every cheesy sci-fi movie ever.
I must admit. I'm not crazy about hail to the thief. It sounds like radiohead, but their use of sounds is much less subtle than kid a or amnesiac. overall it sounds a bit forced, i think. almost like they had to cut an album and left a lot of the process up to a producer or something. it's still really good as far as new music goes, but Kid A is in a completely different dimension. I can't wait for their new album to come out. They've been working on it for a while. My friend and i are going to save up some money and see a bunch of their shows. I can't wait!
