It's the combination of curiosity and excitment. You learn quickly (whether you want to or not) that patience pays off 10x.

I wish psychedelic mushrooms were legal, because I would like to indulge in this amazing fruit of the earth. Unfortunately, I can only learn about this interesting hobby, and cultivate legal mushrooms.

I had that problem. Now I have the opposite problem where I forget to check things I should be checking, for days on end. Seems the curse is more just finding the right balance between the two, which comes from experience so you just "know when".

i knew i was not going to be able NOT to look at my first jars (which are now 3 days old) so i also innoculated two honey jars... i just look at the honey jars all the time... which made me wonder if i'm supposed to expose it to light or not (but it's probably batter then taking the substrate jars out all the time)
i'm just really worried that i fucked it up (my syrange making was pretty lame to say the least!)

Just check it and put it back. While the myc grows don't let it out to stare at for hours and you should be fine

Ahh!  Look out it's the thought police!!!
George is funny.  And awesome *puts on foil hat*

I keed, I keed.

Anyway, to keep this actually on topic...
I agree that it's really hard not to want to fuck around with the grow in progress, making sure it's going all nice and purdy.  I suppose checking every few hours is a bit excessive though... It's just so hard to...have...self...control!!!! ahhh.

Now everything is in my empty roommate's room's closet so at least it's a little farther away to have to walk down the hall to check on it instead of fucking around with it in close vicinity, lol.

The honey tek jar though is just so fun to play around with!  Hopefully handling it won't screw it up or anything.  It's just so cool to see new growth like every hour.

*must fight urge to fiddle with everything*
