    #3107523 - 09/08/04 11:17 AM (12 years, 3 months ago)

is it alright for a person with add to take shrooms or will this result in a bad situation?

No problem as far as I know! Do you use any drugs for add?

I'm not sure about mushrooms+ritalin/dextroamphetamine. Can't help you with that...

Someone should tell you what the effects of ritalin/dextroamphetamine and mushrooms are before he tries it.

Good luck!

I have a close friend who has adhd and trip's. He has been on many different forms of ritalin( I am not too sure how they are different, but they have different mg's between them) and he say's the trip is not that visual, he just get's sped up for about 6 to 8 hours.

He can eat alot of mushrooms and seem like he just did a line of speed. I don't know if that is the drugs interacting with the mushrooms, but when he tried E he said he did not even notice anything.

I have ADHD and have never had any problems on shrooms, acid, or E. I don't think I've taken my meds (Adderall) at the same time as any of them 'cause I didn't really need to focus, but I doubt they would harm your friend. If anything, he might not trip as hard as a non-ADD person would. I don't know if my friends trip harder than I do because of my brain chemistry 'cause I have no way of knowing what it's like for them.

Shrooms are a depressent (in the sense that they make things slower) as well as a hallucinogen so I'd think they wouldnt cause any damage. Theres also a ton of undiagnosed as well as misdiagnosed ADD so I think your friend should be fine. I wouldn't take any meds the day of the trip though. For one thing it may cause an unexpected reaction and it might make the trip less intense as some people have experienced. I would keep the ritalin around in case he starts to freak out b/c maybe it would bring him back to sanity if something goes wrong. Thats just what I would do though. I dont have (diagnosed) ADD nor am I on meds though, so I couldn't be sure.

ADD and shroms in fine, but shrooms and meds, I'm not too sure about.

Psilocybin is a depressant. This does not mean that it makes you feel depressed, but that it depresses (slows down) some of your bodily functions. This means that it slows down your:
heart rate
breathing
metabolism
thinking
reaction times

source?

Psilocybin doesn't slow down my heart rate, breathing and thinking as far as I know... I don't know about my reaction time and metabolism.

Yes it does. It makes it hard for some people to breathe.

And it definately depressess and warps reaction times and thinking.

i have add and i enjoy shrooming once in a while. unfortunately a lot of the time a person with add will also suffer from depression, so id say the possibility of a bad trip would be higher than normal people. just make sure that this person is ok with having no control over their thoughts, it can be a very difficult situation to tell yourself to let go and keep needing to remind yourself over and over.
personally my world was rocked last time i did shrooms (about 6 months ago). i think completely differently than i used to, and im taking steps to alleviate the depression at least. overall even though it was a difficult trip it was a very positive experience.

it does not depress breathing.. maybe those people just thought they were having trouble breathing. and if anything 4-ho-dmt will speed up your thought process... that doesnt mean you'll have good reaction times though... but that is because your brain is being overloaded with extra sensory input so it doesnt know what to do as quickly as when sober.

i also hardly believe that it reduces your metabolism. ive tried alot of tryptamine deriatives.. and in general they would speed up your metabolism before slowing it down.

I'm pretty sure mushrooms are a slight stimulant, not a depressant. A small dose of shrooms feels a lot more like a cup of coffee than alcohol or valium. I could be wrong though

I was diagnosed with ADHD at the age of 6, and have been shrooming for 2 years now. No problems so far.

Mushrooms are not a depressant. It increases your heartrate if anything.
