Wild poo+P.arundacea=?

So I have a herd of Elk which are sleeping in the yard at night and robbing my fruit trees. So this AM I went out and picked up a five gallon bucket of turds and have it drying in the greenhouse along with about a quarter bale of Phalaris arundacea I am planning a 50/50 dung/straw substrate w/ oyster shell added before pasteurization. I will post pics of all ingredients and processes as I progress. It should be interesting as the dung is quite like rabbit or goat and made up of a tremendous variety of plants.I am hoping for a richer substrate in percursors for a more potent final product.Anybody try "wild" dung before? If so how did you do? thanx for reading, WR

wild animal poop has less nutrition then captive animal poop, cause the wild animal has to use all the nutes it can cause it has to survive, cows in a pasture aint struggling like them elks sorta are.

So perhaps leaching it might hurt... Will dry and pulverize then add unleached to substrate.Goal is NOVEl nutritional substrate which succeeds.I thought it looked quite rendered down for ruminant feces.will post whatever occurs, thanx WR

Animals in the woods tend to browse on a lot of different plant material. I would stick with animals that eat mostly hay, grass, and grains.

Ive done those, this is an experiment.Besides these elk are feeding largely on the same grass I pick semis in and there has been NO cows on the land for 20 yrs.I figured if it was nutritious to support a field of semis it would grow cubes.Thoughts? WR

I find that cubes prefer primary sources of dung while semi's prefer degraded dung mixed with decomposing grass. I'm sure cubes would grow on it, but I imagine it wouldn't support many flushes or significant flushes.

I have 4 casings going. 2 PF classic and 2 creeper will post pics tomorrow or next. Very pleased with the wild poo so far. But as Joshua points out the proof will be in the fruiting. WR

I'm curious as to whether or not any one has used phalaris arundacea in there substrate before. Wondering if the .06% per weight of dmt makes much of a difference on potency.

Hi Joshua, I gathered it fresh the day after they bedded in my yard then dried it and crushed the pebbly poo with chopped shade dried Phalaris aquatica,Oyster shell flower,Kelp, High P bat guano and chopped coffee waste(filters and grounds).Mix was loaded into disposable baking pans and pasteurized @ 170f/5hrs with pans inside baking bags. Pans were inoculated with 2.5q WBS/Alder sawdust spawn two and four days ago and placed back into oven bags with poly sealing the opening. So far first two PF over ran the substrate in 3 days then cased the creeper is right behind and will be cased today.I have to say I like the Elk poo to work with as it doesn't stink at all and the myc seems to really like the consistancy of it.Photos later and hopefully many fruit. I'm over run with deer, I spook a couple of herds of about 5-10 just driving up my driveway, sounds like something to pass on to a friend in the next couple of months and see what sort of results he comes up with...

Here is a little better image of the pinset, as good or better than I've done on Cow or Horse poo So far am very pleased despite having to move my fruiting in the middle to a new environment. Well Joshua so far wild poo is first flushing very well I too am curious how many flushes it will sustain. As noted it is supplimented with high P guano and oystershell dust so am trying to push the metabolism tword Psilocybin hopfully for long storage potency. The two quarts are cased spawn jars as controls to assess potency between my blend and grain. LOL debating the aesthetics of poopoo I just realized the humor of this post.Truth is probably any ruminant poop will work as noted by the differences between elephants and buffalo and sheep and cows all of which sustain excellent growth. Peace all, WR

A lot of substrates will work, but only specific substrates work well.
I have a huge preference of horse manure over cow manure for example. Horse manure is much less digested than cow manure and therefor I believe it to be superior due to the fact that there is more energy available to the fungus.
It's always fun to play around though. I hope the flavor of your fruits is potent!

The first fruits of the first casing of wild poo yeild = 322g This is eighty or so grams of some of the larger fruit. Very robust fruit!
Nice fat solid stems and large caps. This is the PF classic strain. WR
