you know its crazy how slow the weiliis grow when its hot out, ive been watching these ones grow for about 3 or 4 days now and they are finally getting to the point i can pick them. caps are much darker too and the stems are really short because all the sunlight. i bet they will be very potent though, there in full shade like 90 % of the day and i read somewhere that the longer a mushroom takes to mature(within reason) the more potent it is. correct me if thats not true. anyways looks like we dont have rain coming for awhile

Dimmy said: sorry if this is considered a double post but as i asked before... does anyone have any information about the fruiting habits of weilii... only after rain? at what temps? life spand of patches? any possible ways of promoting growth? ect. this type of specific information would be helpful to everyone here so if anyone has something to share please do.
Normaly I'd say UTFSE(use the fucking search engine), but I'll answer a few questions for ya.
Weilii fruit when temps range from low 80s in the day to low 50s at night. Generally from late August through early November. They fruit when there is adequate moisture, be it from rain or sprinkler systems. They perfer shaded areas because the moisture tends to linger there, but will grow anywhere on a lawn after a good rain. They tend to keep on fruiting provided the moisture content is high enough and it's the right time of year.

I found these after the hurricane. My internet has been down until recently so here are some pics:
This is from our first patch
I've reached my upload limit, i'll upload more tommorow. The ones i've found this season are less bluish and more just brown when we found them. After keeping them in a bag for 20 minutes and having them brush each other they turned navy colored from the amount of bluing.

I haven't found any recently, and I have been habitat targeting everyday on my lunch breaks. My theory is that if I spend an hour each day looking for greats spots to look for, then after good (bad) weather the search is already narrowed down and I don't have to waste half of a really good hunting day just finding some good neighborhoods.

Yeah, I'd imagine we'll see a few more "bumper" crops before the season is over. Hurricane season ends in November, as does weilii season. I think we'll see at least a few more major bouts of rain.
I was watching channel 2 last night and Glen burns thinks that the hurricane is gonna go against what the current preditction (that crazy turn to the north). He says there's a ridge of high pressure blocking the hurricane from turning north, so he's expecting it to hit around the Orlando area, cross over into the Gulf, then take the same course Ivan did(through the panhandle and up through GA). In the many years that I've lived in Atlanta, Glen Burns is rarely wrong about the weather. Lets hope he's right(what a greedy thing to say ).
Wewt.

dont really know if i should post this here, but just wanted to tell you weilli pickers of my experience last night. about 6 last night my roommate and i decided to partake of some fungus, and decided to take 3.5 grams a piece(a nice strong dose in my experience). we crushed them into powder with a coffee grinder because thats my favorite way to eat them, and away we went. everything was great for the first 2 hours, feeling the nice body high and enjoying ourselves. then my roommate starts to trip too hard and eventually became overwhelmed with the experience. it took another 2 hours to talk him back down out of his state and back into reality. so my point is if you are not experienced with fungus consumption be careful with the amount you eat. i was fine but my roommate weighs more than me and has eaten them many times so you never can tell. if you are not sure how much to eat i would say start with 1.5 to 2 grams dry and see how you feel with that. also i can tell you from experience that i had much more of a visual trip when i eat over 3 grams dry versus more of a body high under 3. anyways sorry to write so much about this i just wanted to give everybody a little ensight into the world of the weilli...

might have, but its hard to tell you when you dont have a description. take a spore print by cutting the stem off at the base of the cap and as long as its mature enough put it gill side down on paper and it will make a spore print. also sometimes it takes a little bit but there shuld be blue bruising of some sort. ps... pictures are worth a thousand words...

Either late tuesday or early wednesday will be the prime picking hours. I've got a couple spots I'll be checking tommaro to analyze how fast post-rain growth occures with weilii and the stages of development at which time frame occured.
