66F to low for B+ casing?
    #3106273 - 09/08/04 12:57 AM (13 years, 7 months ago)

I have just initiated pinning, lowered RH to around 80% (the best I could with a fucked up hygrometer) and took the heat pad out from under the casing to drop the temp, but the temp inside the chamber reads 66. Should it be more like 72-74? All my heating pads are tied up in other uses at the moment.....do you think my casing will be cool (no pun intended..hahaha...eh) for 3-4 day in this temp until I can get a heating pad under it? Peace.

I don't know about casings (trying my first one now)or B+ but they are all Psillys even thought they come from different climates of the world, but I had my cakes of Amazon fruiting at 66-68F although when I made the PMP the pump kept the temp stable and optimal at 75/76F and humidity has been a constant 99%.At 75-77 they grow their best I think but this has been my first grow...ever.I have 2 cakes that I birthed into the pod three nights ago and although they showed some hyphal knots invitro, they now have these humongous fresh pins on them.My 2nd flushes haven't been too bad lots of shrooms most small but some nice average size ones. The biggest I picked so far is about 3-3.5" and the cap is about .5-.75".

Even though I know next to nothing about casings I'd say NO,it's not too cold, but if you bring your temps up to the optimal (75-77F) they will fruit much better.

Growth will be noticably slower which does give contams an edge also. If you can raise the temp do it by all means if ya can't you should still get something going on.

What they said. 3-4 days at slightly lower temps isn't going to be a deal breaker. But they might just sit there doing next to nothing for those days. If you have a light that makes a bit of heat (like, a 15 string of christmas lights or a 15 watt light bulb or something) you could affix that to the lid of your chamber and probably gain the 6-10 degrees you need anyway (not knowing if the 66 degrees is with your light already rigged, or if you just use natural light from a window or something).

B+ sure likes to be warm during colonization, but it seems that is not as true during fruiting.
