New Bicycle!
    #3104403 - 09/07/04 05:02 PM (19 years, 6 months ago)

So I just got a new bike! It's a Specialized Crossroads Sport. SOOOOO nice - I haven't had a bike in years. haha.

i'm worried about it being stolen though. i bought a U-Lock w/ Cable lock but still I'm nervous!!! The area I want to lock it up at (the train station) isn't really the BEST. Oh and I bought the lock seeing it had a $1,000 anti-theft warranty. I open it up and everything to see it says "ANTI THEFT WARRANTY VOID IN THE STATE OF NEW YORK"... that's nice that they have me BUY THE FUCKING THING and then once I open it and read the details it says it's void for me. Isn't there something wrong w/ that? False advertising so I'd buy the thing - open it (so it can't be returned) and then find out I can't get the anti theft warranty?!

If you were determined, you could probably get a refund on the lock due to the stated concern.

Congrat's on the new wheels :sun:

In Amsterdam every one rides bikes. And every one rides em to the clubs and bars. You rarely ride the same bike home.
The end.

Congrats on the new bike. I ride my bike to work every day and around to visit my friends and the bars on the weekends. It saves a lot of money on gas, and it gets you some good exercise.

i ride my bike all the time. I love riding my bike. And it does save money with gas and such, and the excercise is good, i always like to push myself and try to do some certain thing faster or whatever.

my brand new $550 trek bike got jacked outside my work about a month and a half ago... had a chain lock it apparently somehow still got stolen...

the only advice i got AFTER my bike got stolen (ugh) was to never park it in the same place everyday and not have a brand new bike.

good luck!

Even if its purty and new. I would take a can of spray paint to hit. And put a basket on the front thiefs hate baskets and tassles.

Sorry to hear about your bike.

I've been wanting to get a bike for the past ten years. Cycling was the only athletic activity I was really good at when I was younger in hi-skewl.

Specialized and Trek are good brands buy Im partial to Cannondale myself.

Here is probably one of the best bike locks available. A friend of mine used this heavy-duty chain for 3 years while he lived in Philly and his nice bike was never stolen. Be sure to get a cable that can attach your quick-release seat to the bike frame.... It would suck to go out to your bike and find that some jack-ass has taken your seat!
