Lets sort out the airpump/coolmist part of the FAQ guys

Ok guys, there has been lots of talk about coolmists/airpumps and things like that but the faq is quite devoid of talk of that. I went to add my noisy airstone question to the faq and found out there is pretty much nothing regarding air pumps atall. So I'm suggesting we compile the questions and answers that we should submit to the FAQ here and then put them into the FAQ forum once they are sorted. Humidification mentions cool mist on passing and thats it, What is the best means of humidification? The answer to this question strongly depends on what do you want to humidify. If you have only a few cakes, then perlite is probably the humidification of choice. With casings, the moisture that escapes the casing might already be enough to humidify a small terrarium. If you have a shelf like grow system, a cool mist humidifier might suit your needs. To decide on what you want to use, please refer to the Humidification Techniques section. Take from http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23376 I will update this edited section with the questions and answers as they come in. ---------------------------------------------- EDITED SECTION OF QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS --------------------------------------------- Can be found here http://shroomery.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/Main/AirpumpFAQ Please contribute by clicking on "Edit Page" at the top right. Notice there are no Coolmist questions yet.

My questions I would like to add are
What are the benefits of using an airpump? What size air pump do I need to use? How should I wire the airpump? Help? what do I do with this noisy airstone/pump?
I don't have a coolmist so if somebody can suggest the questions for that?

Aquarium air pumps use a vibrating bellows to pump air out the tube. Since the entire unit vibrates, if it's placed on something that resonates (a hollow box, shelf, desk, floor, etc.) the noise will be transmitted to that surface. It's possible to suspend an air pump inside a boxlike frame using rubber bands, which will result in minimal sound transfer. This same technique is used by many people with hard drives and water pumps in watercooled computers, to reduce hum coming from these components. You should not hang the pump by its wires. Electrical wires are never designed to be load-bearing and this could result in the wire breaking where it enters the unit. (edit: hdds too, i'll make a picture later)

Thanks to the pinner of this topic and thanks to Foobar for that info, have changed that particular question. The reason the questions I have posed have not been answered is I believe I cannot come through with a complete enough answer so please, please do add your two cents. As per Anno's request we are using the Wiki system to do this now

Just some clarifications as to what Wiki is:
WikiWikiWeb is an "open-editing" system where the emphasis is on the authoring and collaboration of documents rather than the simple browsing or viewing of them. The basic concept of a WikiWikiWeb (or "wiki") is that (almost) anyone can edit any page. While at first this sounds like a recipe for complete anarchy, the truth is that sites using this system have developed surprisingly complex and rich communities for online collaboration and communication.

No. We use wiki a development tool. After the questions and anwers have reacehd a sufficient quality level, they will be moved to the FAQ.

"To create references to other pages, run capitalized words together to make a WikiWord page title. This automatically creates a hyperlink. Make titles for NewSubjects, even if you don't have anything to say about them. Maybe someone will come along and fill out a page for the new link."
From http://shroomery.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/PmWiki/TipsForEditing
I went and created the http://shroomery.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/Main/HumidifyingFAQ , you might want to adjust the links in your post.
