Jesus represents the rare state of human development in which the human organism becomes a storehouse/gateway into the realm of divinity or infinite possibility.

Eating shrooms is a goodway to tap into that storehouse, open that gateway.

Weather jesus became enlightend by eating shrooms is questionable, but many jesus-like figures (people who have transcended the monkey brain) certainly found the shroom usefull

If only more people knew... I'd join Christianity again if they dealt out the real sacrament on Sundays!

Clever misrepresentations and plays on English spellings (e.g., "El-der"). Andrijah Puharich and John Allegro both had theses about the mushroom (Amanita Muscaria) in Egyptian and Christian religions respectively. The Hebrew, if one knows even the slightest bit, lived by dietary laws that excluded unclean, parasitic growths like mushrooms. Daniel Merkur's thesis that the 'showbread' in the Tabernacle of the Hebrews was ergot-laden is interesting, as is the 'manna from heaven' as a mushroom. Sheep, cattle or whatever, mushrooms don't grow in the desert. The attempt to reduce mythic, mystic or symbolic writings of scripture to rather mundane, comprehensible experiences is just plain reductionism. There is Mystery, and what is more, there is the religious experience of ancient and venerable people who experienced the "Mysterium Tremendum et Fascinans" [Rudolph Otto - 'The Idea of the Holy'] without benefit of Entheogens. It is somewhat sad that we moderns have to cut through so much social and technological shit that encrusts our lives, that we have to resort to what Huxley called "Moksha Medicine" - medicine that liberates. 21st century mindless humanoids who walk and bicycle and drive with a cell phone to their ears will never Know GOD.

The only post I find logical and truthful in this thread is the one directly above me.

I have for long questioned how people could assume that jesus smoked, did drugs, or ate psychedelics.

Anything that you can gain from mushrooms, you can gain without them. They are a powerful tool, no doubt...but the religious experience does not need mushrooms.

The idea that Jesus was a druggie is funny as hell. I'll have to spring that one on some of my Christian friends. Inspiration does not require drugs.

It is completely possible and it would be outside the Bible that he did this. Does this mean it didn't happen? No.

Jesus didn't need drugs to embody truth, he was walking Truth in the flesh.

All the insights that can be gained from tripping can be gained in other ways as well. The trip is in your mind.

Correct, he really didn't need the drugs, but the possibility is still there that he partook in the use of at least some ethnobotanicals.

He drank wine and that is for sure and that is a drug; but Jesus warned against drunkenness all the same.  Abuse of any substance seems not wrong, but brash and unwise because it can change you for the worse.  I personally believe Jesus could have taken part in some "drug" usuing, but not to get "drugged out" on them.

Christianity and other organized religions being a giant self fullfilling proficy/myth based on our ancient relationship mushrooms, the one true religion? Yeah, things are finally starting to make sense.
But what do you guys think about the maleness of it all? The mushroom penis, the man first, the woman only a breakoff of the stem, the sun god, the son of god, the journey across space..filled with other suns. Hmm..
Oh yeah, You guys are debating if jesus took mushrooms or another psychedelic type drug. What about the 40 days in the desert, where he was temped by the devil? That sounds pretty tripped out to me..however you want to interpert it, drugs or not.

i doubt that jesus was a real person, he was an idea in which christianty borrowed from other ancient relgions. the idea of a crucified savior is much older than christianity

For me though, religion cannot be based on mushroom mysticism because my experiences on mushrooms do not relate to a 'collective psychedelic identity' that everyone will have if they ingest mushrooms. Mushrooms for me allowed me to experience gnosis, which is the knowledge of mysteries that Jesus embodied. Countless people have tapped into Divine Revelation without psychedelic drugs. There is a huge difference in what people on mushrooms experience, and what people experience during divine revelation. Simply taking magic mushrooms is not Divine Revelation if the Set and Setting is not directed towards the Divine. My first psychedelic experiences took place just as I was in the process of converting to Islam and set and setting were directed towards God when I took psychedelics.

Like ss7 said, the trip is in your head. If you go into a trip with a depressed, angry stance you will attain an undivine revelation that the world is a depressing cess pool. If you go into a trip with Christ, the Father and Holy Spirit in mind, the sacred Mushroom will ask the Lord, "Shall we reveal our countenance to this spark?"

markos can better explain the differences between mushroom mysticism and the mysticism directed towards the Divine Truth (God).

for me i don't believe in the existence of one all powerful "god". i was however a non practicing christian until i became involved with psychedelics. one trip changed my entire life. it was as if i was being shown the truth about everything throught the mushroom. i was not in control of the trip and could barely gather my thoughts. it was as if my head opened up and information was pouring in. however i will admit that ever since i was a young child i had been obssesed with the thought of what happens when you perish. the things i was being taught in church never set well with me. i didnt make sense. on my most spectacular trip everything made sense. it was almost as if i could as a question to my self and the answer would come to me.
