has anyone tried this with an acid/base extraction personally? if so ,what acid/base did you use,how much plant matter did you use and what were the results? thanks

My unlce does that he got the tek from erowid. Man he makes some pure crystals. Very good trip. I am lucky enough to get some 1-2 a year from him. But I don't know anything about it sorry. Other then he has these hugh glass beakers. He boils the cati down all day adds some chems and waits until is seperates. Then he drains the middle layer off. After that he uses Muratic Acid and drips it thru the soultion and get crystals. I've watch him only once about 4 years back. Very intresting.

HCL and NaOH for the acid and base. Stay away from lye and pavement cleaner though, this is something you want to ingest. You can get reagent grade chems at chemical supply stores. HCL and NaOH shouldn't raise too many questions either, I've never been bothered with buying them. Your yield really depends on your lab skills. Just take your time and follow the procedure word for word.

yea you can use naptha.... but most naptha is pretty dirty... make sure you evaporate a large amount of it to make sure there isnt any funny gunk leftover.

I don't know, but i suppose it can be used in place of xylene. Will get expensive, though. Cactus extractions need a lot of solvent.
Xylene is way cheaper than naphta. And clean xylene will probably be easier to find than clean naphta. At least for me it is.
I did it once. Started with 750g of fresh Trichocereus Pachanoi and recovered roughly 700mg of crude mescaline HCl. Ate about 400-500mg about a week ago and tripped very hard
Check The Nook forums for some very good up-to-date extraction teks.
I used a mix of mjshroomer's syrup tek with some of the teks at the Nook. Basically: made a cactus tea > basified it > extracted the freebase with xylene > extracted alkaloids from the xylene with dilute HCl > evaporated > washed alkaloids with acetone.

Any idea how much 750 grams of fresh is equal to dry? just curious on the yield you got. sounds very nice. does the 700mg include other cactus alkaloids or did you figure that in already? (the extraction tek said about 1/2 of it should be mescaline, around) edit: Also, what did you change from mjshroomer's tek?

I guess my yield includes all other Pachanoi alkies. Don't think the process i used is selective for mescaline. Pedro alkaloids are friendly, though
I suspect more than half is mescaline judging by my bio-assay results.
I found the yield very nice, also. I certainly didn't expect that much.
Have no idea how much 750g fresh is worth in dry cactus, b/c it can vary a lot. Cacti are not like shrooms, that have a static ~90% water content.
Oh, and the cactus section i used sat in my closet for a month before i got around to extract it. It probably dehydrated a lot during that time, which made it lighter than it would be straight out of the pot.
I didn't change anything from mjshroomers tek, except that i boiled the cactus pulp twice instead of just once (b/c it still tasted like mesc after the first boil and strain). Than just ran the a/b on the resulting combined and reduced teas.
Usually cactus teks start with dry powdered cactus. As i only had fresh i found a way to start with it, so i didn't have the extra work of drying the cactus. And that way was mjshroomers tek.
