Hi,
I'm new to this website and I never had mushrooms and am going to start soon. The problem is that I want to grow my own. How do I get spores so that I can grow them?

That depends on whether or not you spend a lot of money. :)

Seriously, it really depends on what you have laying around the crib already, what sort of setup you'd like and the success rate you're willing to live with.

Expect to spend at least $100 USD on your first crop. Jars, substrate, spores, alchohol, peroxide, heater, thermometer, spray bottle, terrarium/fruiting chamber, light and don't forget gas money. That's probably all you need to get you going. Check out the spore chick's kit. I think it has all that stuff in it.

Also, it really helps to have a copy of The Mushroom Cultivator by Stamets/Chilton.

thanks guys for the help. Another question, is it better to buy prefilled syringes or to make them yourself? And, What is the best spores to get? Thanx, egghead, I think I will buy a kit from sporechick. Thanks everyone for your help!

Ya, syringes make it a lot easier.
No need for kits though, everything you need is easily scrounged.

B+, Aussie, Golden Teacher, most any of the various cubensis strains are good for starters.

just start w/ 1 unless you have a a buntch of jars and make a syringe if you get a print man i innulated w/a print on 4/23 and im now starting to see a little sign of growth a syringe makes things a lot faster
