Is there any one preferred way to harvest a mushroom? Can I just pluck it off with my hand or should I use an exacto knife and slice the stalk or whatsup

Just wash your hands, then hold it at the base and gently twist. Often the mushrooms will be grown together in spots at their base, so you'll get clumps of shrooms sometimes.
