small shrooms

My friend has some cakes with OI and CAM, he has read that it only takes 3-4 days for the pins to reach full maturity. The pins have grown to about 2 inches in the past 8 days, and don't look like they are going to break the veil anytime soon. What is the cause of such small shrooms? there is also fluffy myc going half way up the stipe.
he also has 3 casings that he cold shocked and put in the fruiting chamber, they look nothing like some of the casings inthe grow logs.
he only had myc poking up in a few spots, patched and then had myc pop up in a few more spots before he cold shocked, the ones in the grow logs look like the top layer is fully permeated,should he have waited until the top layer was fully permeated or did he do the right thing and try to start the pinning process? also does he drop the RH to 85 now or wait until the casing has pinned?  :confused: :stoned:

what is your air exchange like?
does it seem dry in your fruiting chamber?
the #1 causes of stalled pins IME
are high co2 and low moisture

as far as myc goes, it can really work either way
after a little experience you will realize that there is a healthy middle ground between colonized and not colonized enough
and it depends on your setup, personal preference, etc.

he fans 5 times a day and the rh is always above 90. he has a gauge that only goes up to 90 and then it says hi, but it is always hi. there is always moisture on the sides and on top.

they have been the same size for 3 days no change,
