why is everyone so scared...
    #3094830 - 09/05/04 01:48 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

...of a bunch of uneducated, malnourished arabs who live in a desert halfway around the world, armed with little more than rusty AK47's and twenty year old RPG's?

does anybody really believe this pathetic force is a serious threat to our national security?

personally, I'm a lot more afraid of the American military. Giving them more power and more money doesnt ease my mind at all.

Cmon. Your system needs enemies. If there was ne enemies, America we know today, would collide with big bang. Even though, big bang is waiting for you in any case.

Certain people's bank accounts might collapse if America had no enemies, but I think the rest of the country would be just fine.

I am affraid it would not be just fine. The whole system is based on trust in illusion because you need that illusion out of fear. If there was not fear, you would stop obeying to this illusion.

How could you possibly question the great and literate scholar of the US that is Crobih. He has spent many years embedded among the fearful US masses and knows them like the back of his hand. That plus his many doctorates in economics, international law, psychology and sociology make his pronouncements, no matter their gibberish nature, beyond reproach. For us to discount his papal bulls are the height of arrogance (well, i've seen YOU go higher). That is if you can figure out what fucking language he is using.

DoctorJ writes:

1) The folks who tell those uneducated malnourished arabs what to do are neither uneducated nor malnourished.

2) It doesn't matter what you do for a living or even whether you are a Muslim with full sympathy for those uneducated malnourished arabs, you're a target for them anyway. See Bali, Madrid, Turkey, Russia, New York City, Iraq....

personally, I'm a lot more afraid of the American military.

Then you, as an American living in America, are orders of magnitude more paranoid than those Americans living in America concerned about Islamic terrorists. When was the last time an American civilian living in America was killed by the American military? Last incident I can recall would be the four killed by the National Guard at Kent State University over three decades ago. Got anything more recent than that you can offer us?

While no offical proclamation was ever set forth, I believe that posse comitatus was violated at Waco, TX. Whether or not the military was activly involved in the deaths that took place is still up in the air. However, your point about his paranoia being exponentially more irrational being focused on the military rather than Jihadist's does stand.

Many more people, over 10 times as many, died in car accidents in 2001 than did in terrorist attacks (in the continental US). Why isn't anyone paranoid about the highways?

Blown out of proportion, like all jucy media stories.

One has a greater chance of dying of natural causes than perishing in a terrorist attack.

Zahid points out the obvious --

One has a greater chance of dying of natural causes than perishing in a terrorist attack.

Well, duh!

Can the government do anything about the fact that (barring all other causes) you will eventually die of natural causes? Nope. Does the government have a responsibility to wage war against those who have declared war on the nation? Yep.

This kind of idiotic logic might be why people are changing their opinion of you. After 9/11, do you think it would have been appropriate to launch a major campaign against aggressive driving to cut down on the number of US fatalities per year?

I hate to say it, but I'm going to be glad when your religion is purged from the face of the earth.

That is the most idiotic reasoning I have ever seen.

Yes, there are legal things which result in the deaths of more than
3,000 people per year(such as fatty foods, automobiles, and alcohol),
but these occurrences do not include cold-blooded mass murder. These
incidents cannot be compared.

Islamic extremists want to kill as many Americans as is possible.
The ring leader of the first World Trade Center Bombing
(Youseff...spelling?) wanted to kill 250,000 people in his attack.
According to some documentation I was reading, Al Qaeda expressed
interest in buying uraniam. And, how many people died in the
Russian hostage situation this week? Over three hundred people
died when murderers took them hostage and wired the buildings
with explosives in order to kill those people. Do you honestly
still think that Islamic fundamentalists do not pose a serious
threat?

Jeez, calm down... the point is that terrorism is hyped in the United States - i.e., you've let the terrorists rob you of your way of life.
