Has anyone watched "Passion of the Christ" while trippin'?

Do you think it would be the best or worst trip ever?

Listen, if you watched a man being beaten while tripping, you would absorb the feelings of pain you would see. How would you like to feel being scorged?

THAT IS NEVER FUN!!

Do not trip to this movie. Jesus basically get's destroyed in it and if you haven't seen it that is all I will say.

But maybe if you watched it and absorbed the entire sin of man like Jesus did, maybe you would get some sort of spiritual superpowers...

Sounds reckless to me. Definitely recommend against this idea. As a rule of thumb, watching TV while tripping is not nearly as rewarding as actually doing something.

Think of all that crazy arayamaic (sp?). I bet some crazy shit will happen if you listen to the words and don't look at the subtitles. In fact, I bet you would be able to understand it when you are tripping. Maybe not exactly, but at least you would think you could while tripping.

There are much better movies going on behind closed eyes than Hollywood could ever make!

Go watch some...

All I get is freaky tron-style fractals with multicolored swirling followed by inverted trench runs to the deathstars core as it explodes. That's all fine and good, but it doesn't have much of a plot.

Besides I'm interested in learning how to curse fig trees and fill pigs with demons... Whipping up some water into wine sure wouldn't hurt either!

i think gibson missed the real spiritual message of Jesus' death in his film
he concentrated to much on invoking secular emotions
from something that has implications far behind that scope
ie Gibson failed to make an epic, and this film should have been one

and besides, this is all just marketing anyway
don't you remember about jesus and the money changers?

Hey, he made a buttload of cash... and money speaks louder than words.

Anyways they aren't showing this movie in any temples yet, so Jesus would have no problem.

wtf are you talking about
many churches in my area are showing it to their congregation
and money only speaks louder than words to some...
if you believe that it does, then maybe you should review some of the things jesus and other great religious minds have had to say over the millenia

than something to be taken literally
it speaks more of the capitulation of a spiritual thing,
or
the whoring of jesus

I find the funny thing to be how much money they are trying to make off this film. I saw "The Passion of Christ" bracelets and necklaces that had fake vintage-looking nails hanging from them. I thought it was pretty funny at that point.

No, I think it was Jesus throwing out actual money changers out of actual temples for forcing people to pay money and making the money from the temple, aka god's house.

There really isn't any metaphor.

okay you are missing my point
if you take the bible literally, then it literally happened (jesus & the money changers)
this is your belief
i was making a point
using this biblical scenario
as a metaphor
about the hypocrisy and sickening self interest
that i find in Gibson's rampant marketing push

Actually god and jesus both support Mel Gibson in his movie efforts.

Mel gives much money to charity, and is an all around great human being. He has done exactly what the lord wanted him to do, perhaps it was even his purpose in life.

Anyway as per your temple comment... No they aren't showing it in any temples.

Oh, so what are you, god's agent?

How bout the fact that the guy playing jesus was struck by lightning while filming.
If anything, god hates this movie. Why else would he be offing jesus?

You would like POC then. There isn't any preaching, it's just an incredibly accurate portrayal of an amazing story.

As to the temple issue: I thought you would catch that the second time around...

Jews worship in temples. How many copies did you sell to jewish rabis?

It was a little lightning bolt, didn't do much damage. God works in mysterious ways.

If he was angry at all the guy would be dead. That's how you can be sure that god is on Mel's side.

Nothing to do with Passion, but still in that Weierd-stuff-to-trip-to category!

And btw, Christianity is undeniably the most commercialised religion in the world primarily because of its status in America. If anyone disagrees with me watch the God Channel or some equivalent, they can actually be pretty funny to watch

I was wondering about this.  Probably going to trip at some point next Friday with 3 other friends.  The weather is looking like it may be shitty so we'll may just end up chilling at my place.  I was thinking Passion in HD while tripping would a crazy time.

I watched it stoned. It was interesting but i wasn't moved by it. Yeah i did understand it but it serves no real purpose to me.

Watching movies suck while tripping compared to the darkness and the sky.

monty python ftw.

to the OP: I thought it was kind of a dumb publicity stunt for mel gibson and all the religious fanatics just latched onto it. If I watched it while tripping I think it would probably just lead to a long thought process of the religions through history and how devoutly people have believed in them, from early greek gods and godesses to todays monotheistic gods to the beliefs in centuries to come.

Watching the movie wont just give you supernatural powers. You can't be vicarious about it. Jesus supposably got his powers from living the experience.  :awedrugs:
