Is something wrong?
    #309336 - 05/04/01 01:01 PM (22 years, 10 months ago)

I just did my first casing about a week ago, in an 8"x10" tray, using straight vermiculite, and about an inch casing layer. I just started seeing pins about 3 days ago, and the shrooms are about 1/4 to 3/4 of an inch long. For some reason the heads of the babies are remaining small. Am I doing something wrong? I'm using perlite humidification, and I'm hoping to have them ready to be eaten in two days. will I make it? please help

Could be too humid. Might need more air. If you`re still misting stop!

Yeah, get some fresh air in there. Start fanning. Now that you have sizeable pins, it's time to cut back the humidity some.

Some species fruit and finish off faster than others. If you maintain good levels of fresh air and humidity, they should be ready to go 4, 5, or even 6 days after pinning, again - depending on the species and envorinment. "The next few days" is a safe bet, but don't try to rush things. Let the cycle run its course and you'll be gald you did.

Peace.
