Bush won the last time.

Fair and square.

Yes in a "democracy" we consider the majority rules...
the majority being: 50,456,169
and the minority being: 50,996,116
yeah that's fair... no wait... I guess Bush did win... by -539947 votes
to me that's alot of people, but that's just me...

We're not a democracy for VERY good reason. Democracy is two wolves and a sheep deciding on whats for dinner. We are supposed to be a constitutionally-limited republic.

You're talking about majority rules. That is specifically a trait of democracy.

It doesn't even come close to working this time. The electoral system is set up in this nation as Ancalagon said. The constitution limits this with the electoral college. Thats just how it is. He was totally correct and you were totally wrong.

If Al Gore won fair and square, he would have won the electoral college, which he did not, and therefor he did not win fair and square. As he was not granted the office, nothing went on illegal.

That whole escapade just was a huge example of how democrats really don't either understand or care how our country is set up to operate if it doesn't suit their desires.

If you think Gore should have won Florida, take issue with the goddamned idiots who couldn't correctly fill out a simple and straightforward ballot. Which has caused MILLIONS to be thrown at electronic voting machines that are MORE error-prone and do NOT leave a paper trail to recount. If you punch the wrong hole in a ballot, it's your fault, but a computer screen can be mis-configured.

Honestly that very incident will keep me from voting democrat. Bunch of dimwits.

Annnnnnd I had a light saber and my friend was there and I said "you look like an indian" and he said "you look like satan" and he found a stick and a rock and he named the rock ooga booga and he named the stick Stick and we both thought that was pretty funny. We got eaten alive by mosquitos but didn't notice til the next day. I stepped on some glass while wading in the swamp and cut my foot open, didn't bother me til the next day either....yeah it was a good time, ended the night by buying some liquor for minors and drinking nips and going to he diner and eating chicken fingers, and then I went home and went to bed.

To call humans 'rational beings' does injustice to the term, 'rational.'  Humans are capable of rational thought, but it is not their essence.  Humans are animals, beasts with complex brains.  Humans, more often than not, utilize their cerebrum to rationalize what their primal instincts, their preconceived notions, and their emotional desires have presented as goals - humans are rationalizing beings.

Damn straight. I wonder if they were thinking of Socrates when they came up with electoral system.
If it wasn't for the electoral college rural areas (most of the US landmass) would have no say at all in Presidential elections.
