Never used perlite

I've never used perlite in my terreriums for my cakes. It hasn't been a problem...until now for some reason. I think it might have something to do with the new strains I'm going with (PESA and Z). All my Ecuadors did just fine in a terrerium without perlite at the bottom. So what's up with that? Is it stupid to not use perlite? Oh, and this may sound stupid, but how do you use perlite? How much water do I mix with it, or do you just lay the perlite down in there and put the cakes in?

you may have had enough humidity to fruit in the past but your notiuce better, and faster yields using the perlite,or anything for that matter to raise humidity.
place an even layer of perlite in the bottom, put water about a 1/3rd of the way up the level of perlite, and add about 1/10th as much peroxide as water.then place the cakes on foil or the lids so they do not sit on the perlite and place the double end cased cakes on that.easy as pie
