Fastest Pinning Strain Ever!!!

What's the fastest healthy pin you've ever had? Only vote if you incubated your substrate in the darkness. Start counting days from the first time it was exposed to light or removed from the jar. Only count jars or cakes that were birthed within a few days of being 100% colonized. "Healthy pin" means it didn't turn into an abhort or otherwise die early. Try to post conditions and strain if you had really quick pins.

the fastest pin i had was with golden teachers, i took them out of the incubator and within 6-7 days, i took peoples advice on the forums and introduced all the pinning triggers at once, light, water, coldshock and they came really quick!

Well... Fucknuckle admitted that he put in the "2 days" vote.
However, he broke down into a raging hissy fit when I asked him how he did it, what strain he used, and what conditions.
He's now supposedly got me on ignore so I hope you guys will try to cheer him up, he seems like he's on the verge of a mental breakdown or something.

Man you can't even get your quotes right I voted on you poll 3 days.
That is a real time. How do I get that?? Well I wait 4-7 extra days after the jars are fully colinized. My incubator chamber is set at 87 degs. Leaving the jars at 85-86 degs. I use a space heater in a closet instead of a tub in a tub with a fish tank heater. When I birth my jars ,the ones that are going to be cakes go to a 4 hour dunking to simulate rain. Then they go into my fruiting chamber, 72 degs contolled. They only get the avaiable light in the room. I mostly use Purto Ricans, creeper and Pf strains with cakes. Some cakes get rolled and some don't just depends on how I feel that day. I always start seeing pins 3-4 days later everytime. So I don't have any clue as to what your problem is. I don't post pics on account of a deal I made with my wife over safty issues. SO if you want to believe me or not that is your problem.
I have gotten so much of your self promotion in the past week I could PUKE.

I believe you man...
You have been saying that it took 36 hrs... That would be on day two, so why did you vote for 3 days? You are very confusing.
The way I figure it, if you let the jars go 7 days after being 100%colonized then you are really getting pins at about 5-7 days or so(even when you allow a leeway of 1-3 days after 100% colonization before birthing). That's pretty normal.

You still suprize me on how much you are confusing yourself.
If you reread my posts in the last couple threads we communicated in you would see I never said it took 36 hours to see pins. I said it does happen once in awhile.
And the origal question was how long to pins after birth??? Not how long to pins once you can't see the substrate in the jars.

Jeez... Maybe I should have done the poll differently.
Is anyone claiming less than one day?

"Healthy pin" means it didn't turn into an abhort or otherwise die early.
Off my aussie's (ralph) only on 3rd flush did I get just a couple aborts from 12 cakes.

2 days on Cambodian from the date of birth to the forming of noticable knots, the substrate was WBS w/ whole and broken sunflower seeds.
the longest was 7 months, the cake was fruited invitro, it had both a black mold and acterial contam and never colonized more than 40%, it produced several very small flushes which were allowed to remain and rot, the duration of the fruiting lasted 4 months

Damn, good post. Maybe I have been out of the game for too long.
Back when I grew, mushrooms never pinned before about 6 days.
What do you think accounts for this? Has it always been universal, but rare? Is it related to strain type? Or is it something new due to better breeding and domestication aver the years?

the only thing I can say contributed to it is good timing on the 2 day pinning cambodians, the spores were very fresh and were provided by RycheHawk, colonization time to 100% was 3 weeks at 77F, pinning and fruiting were done at 82F with exposure to a fluorex light given a 4 hour cycle through the fruiting period
the contam jar was sent to me by a friend for my personal research regarding contams, he noticed a few spots of black pin mold forming at around 30% colonization and shipped it to me, the jar remained on the water heater for the remaining time, none of the organisms in the jar managed to gain any headway against the others...
there may be a few pics on y system but they were deleted from the servers they were hosted on

kramer had some of those cambo's from Ryche on his first grow... somehow he is down to only 1print of them left and hasn't grown them in over a year.... time to see if that print is good! that is one damn good strain!

This poll hasn't gone how I expected it at all...
Will more of the people who voted 4 days or less speak up and tell us your methods?

my quickest was two days, and i think my method was luck.
when i birthed them they were solid white, like snow, and all i did was break em into big bits, then crumble a jarful into the cracks to level it off. a thin casing layer of mixed peat, coir, verm, chalk and oyster, some light, and humid breezy conditions.... i wasn't expecting anything for a week, but they just popped up in about 48 hours. their time was just right, i suppose.
all we do is mollycoddle, optimise conditions, and hope. mostly it takes a week or so, but sometimes, like finding money in the street, you get an unexpected bonus.

Do you think it's related to the size of the substrate or the size of the pieces of substrate?
I would think smaller substrates would get depleted faster, forcing the myc to pin. Has anyone tried an experiment like shotglass sized cakes vs. pint sized cakes?
