Identification?
    #3078107 - 09/01/04 01:27 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

Hi. I live in Great Britain, amd found some interesting shrooms in the field behind me yesterday.
Caps are creamy buff, unvariably darker in the centre and darkening with age. Gills are purplish brown, and also darken with age. Stems are cream, and look like a yellow sponge inside when broken. The spores are black, and the mushroom does not stain.

Here's a photo I took with my digital.

Any help on identification would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers.

They look like Agaricus. Identification to species is more difficult. What do they smell like?

Happy mushrooming!

They smell like normal mushrooms, the typical ones you'd get at the grocer's.
My thought was they were something in the Panaeolus genus, but perhaps not.

I checked out the genus Agaricus, nothing I found fitted those shrooms of mine. Stalks on mine are lot thinner than most of the Agaricus, usually under 1cm wide and never larger than 1.5cm. Some other ideas, please people?
