Hey found this VERY close to my house in southwest tennessee, and I want to know if these are active and edible.. They are white and have small barnicles on the caps, like amanita mushrooms do, it has gills and it looks like it has greenish spores?(One cap was on the ground and it had a greenish circle) The stem is hollow and they are about 2-3 inches tall, maybe a little taller. The largest cap is about 3-4 inches across, and some are just ripping from the veil. ID please!!

you will get muy sicko. do not eat. in tennessee the only active shrooms you're going to find will be growing off cow shit. w/ the exception of Gymnopilus spp.

You can find alot of mushrooms, Laughing Gym is a good one that grows on wood. Hell, if you don't find an active shroom, you can find an edible one. Just make sure you cut it with a knife and examine it because bugs like edibles and psychadelics too.

The chance you will find something is dependant on location and then availability of substrate (stuff it grows on).

Hah, I live in Tennessee too and have found those on more than one occassion. I could actually drive you to where they grow around here, I've pulled to the side of the road to look at them before. :tongue:

Tennessee is hard on us man! Too few actives grow. I find puff balls and LBMs in my yard, but LBMs just infuriate me.
