Shocking Question

I'm want to shock my cakes all at once. Can I put them out side (38 degrees F)? And if so, how long is too long before it causes damage? Thanks.

38 sounds cold to me, but i don't know. Easiest way would be to put them in a sealed container and put in your fridge overnight.
